It doesn’t matter if you weren’t even alive in 1951 and never saw the Brooklyn Dodgers play.

Larry Jansen, the New York Giants pitcher who won the playoff game that eliminated the Brooklyn Dodgers from the 1951 postseason, died Oct. 10 in Oregon. After his playing days ended, he was a pitching coach for the Giants in New York and after their move to San Francisco.
