Beauty is Life makeup brings a wide range of color to Barneys

I love strolling through the cosmetic counters at Barneys in Beverly Hills, delicate white bottles filled with toning serums, limited-edition lip glosses lining the glass cases, makeup lady after makeup lady asking me if I’d like a touch up (at this point I’m starting to get a complex). But there has been that void of a large, fun and extensive makeup collection full of strong color and drag queen eyelashes like MAC or Makeup Forever that inspires you to try on a vibrant green shadow or baby doll pink lipstick.

A makeup line from Hamburg, Germany, called Beauty is Life is making its U.S. debut at Barneys stores in October, and judging from the range of 90 eye shadow colors and 60 lipstick shades, you won’t be able to miss it when walking through the first floor of the department store this fall.

Beauty is Life founder Beatrix Isabel Lied owns three makeup schools in Hamburg where she teaches application as well as color matching -- a process that considers a person’s hair and eye color when applying makeup. Her philosophy of selling complementary colors and tones will be prevalent at the makeup counter as well. “It’s like a puzzle,” says Lied about giving someone the right makeup to fit their coloring, taste and fashion sense.

Lied also spent 18 years working in dermatology, so each product is dermatologist tested and foundations and concealers feel silky smooth on the skin.

Beauty is Life is exclusive to Barneys stores and will be available in October.
