The color gods have spoken: The top color trend for 2011 is a vibrant reddish-pink hue dubbed ‘honeysuckle,’ according to the Pantone Color Institute and reported in Thursday’s Los Angeles Times.

You can catch the full story by the Associated Press’ Samantha Critchell at the above link -- including some comments by folks who think (like I do) that the word ‘honeysuckle’ conjures up images of a color that’s firmly in the yellow camp.

Of course we could simply forgo the name altogether and go with the less evocative but more accurate numerical designation: Pantone 18-2120.

Either way, it’s a shade of color that’s long been popular in my household, so consider me tickled pink.

Make that honeysuckle.
