GLAAD announces 22nd Media Awards nominations

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation announced the nominees for its 22nd GLAAD Media Awards on Thursday morning.

Nominated for outstanding feature in wide release are ‘Burlesque,’ ‘Easy A,’ ‘The Girl Who Played With Fire,’ ‘The Kids Are All Right,’ which just won the Golden Globe for best comedy or musical feature, and ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.’

Nominees for outstanding film in limited release are ‘Howl,’ ‘I Love You Phillip Morris,’ ‘La Mission,’ ‘Patrick 1.5’ and ‘Undertow.’

On the TV side, contending for drama series are ‘Brothers & Sisters,’ ‘DeGrassi,’ ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ ‘Pretty Little Liars’ and ‘True Blood.’ Comedy series nominees are ‘Glee,’ ‘Greek,’ ‘Modern Family,’ ‘Nurse Jackie’ and ‘The United States of Tara.’

Vying for outstanding reality program are ‘The Fabulous Beekman Boys,’ ‘Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys,’ ‘Project Runway,’ ‘Top Chef: Just Desserts’ and ‘TRANSform Me.’

Nominees for outstanding individual episode of a TV series without an LGBT character are ‘Escape the Castle-Bored to Death,’ ‘Innocence-Law & Order, ‘Klaus & Greta-30 Rock,’ ‘Queen of Mean-Drop Dead Diva,’ and ‘Samaritan-Law & Order U.K.’

In contention for outstanding documentary are ‘8: The Mormon Proposition,’ ‘Edie & Thea: A Very Long Engagement,’ ‘Prodigal Sons, ‘Sylvester Unsung,’ and ‘Out: The Glenn Burke Story.’

The awards will be handed out March 19 at the Marriott Marquis in New York; April 16 at the Westin Bonaventure in L.A. and May 14 at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis.
