Dante’s View, the popular hiking destination in the Hollywood Hills, was destroyed by flames, according to Councilman Tom LaBonge. ‘This is probably the largest fire in griffith park since at least 1960,’ he said.

Located just east and below of Mt. Hollywood is another popular spot in the park...Dante’s View. Dante’s View is a garden of trees and plants high on the east shoulder of Mt. Hollywood with great views of Los Angeles. From the Charlie Turner Trailhead at the north end of the Observatory parking lot the trail follows past the Berlin Forest crossing the tunnel. As previously mentioned in the description for the Mt. Hollywood trail (see above) you will hike on a fire road which heads west then switches east to a fork in the trail. Continue hiking to the right of the mountain face along the east side of Mt. Hollywood where you will come upon Dante’s View. There are picnic tables and shaded areas to rest here. If you wish you can continue on the trail past Dante’s View bearing left to the top of Mt. Hollywood.
