The art writers at the Guardian in London have selected ‘1,000 artworks to see before you die.’ Among the early picks, which will be unveiled over the next week, are such predictible works as Hieronymus Bosch’s ‘The Garden of Earthly Delights’ (above), Henri Cartier-Bresson’s 1944 ‘Matisse,’ and several by Cezanne, Carvaggio and Bernini. There are surprises, such as Peter Blake’s 1967 album cover design for the Beatles’ ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ (right) and Stonehenge. And there’s a few broad categories, such as Buddhist art.

The writers acknowledge the list is not comprehensive and is based on personal tastes and emotion.

Surely they’ll include works by this artist. But what this artist? Maybe something from this one. Will they include this work of art? How about this one?

Do you agree with the Guardian’s picks? What artists or works would you include?
