Lin-Manuel Miranda, the triple-threat talent who won a Tony for Broadway’s ‘In the Heights,’ is set to return to the hit musical when it arrives this summer at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood.

‘In the Heights’ will play at the Pantages from June 23 to July 11 as part of a national tour that is already underway. A spokesman for the Pantages said that Miranda is currently scheduled to appear only in the Hollywood engagement of the tour.

The actor-songwriter played the lead role of Usnavi -- a denizen of New York’s ethnically diverse Washington Heights neighborhood -- in the Broadway production of the musical, which opened in 2008. The production won the Tony for new musical that year and Miranda took home a Tony for the original score.

A film version of ‘In the Heights’ is currently in the works at Universal and is set to star Miranda in the lead role. Kenny Ortega is set to direct the feature film.

A documentary about the creation of the musical, titled ‘In the Heights: Chasing Broadway Dreams,’ aired on PBS last year.

‘In the Heights’ tells the loosely connected stories of a group of Washington Heights neighbors, and features a diverse range of musical styles ranging from hip-hop to meringue.

Following its stop at the Pantages, ‘In the Heights’ will travel to the San Diego Civic Theatre (July 27 to Aug. 1) and to the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa (Aug. 3 to 15).

Miranda is the second Broadway star in recent weeks to announce his appearance at the Pantages. Constantine Maroulis, the ‘American Idol’ alumnus and Tony nominee, will reprise his role in ‘Rock of Ages’ at the theater for two weeks in February.
