Ticket prices at the Hollywood Bowl are going to be slightly more expensive in the coming season. That’s because the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has approved a measure to raise certain prices at the popular summer venue by $1 to $3 per ticket.

The measure, which was requested by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Assn., which manages the venue, is expected to raise an additional $27,000 for the Hollywood Bowl Improvement Fund from the previous year, according to documents provided by county officials.

The money will be used for capital expenditures, equipment and services and supplies at the Bowl. The new prices are scheduled to go into effect for the 2011 Bowl season.

Board members approved the measure unanimously on Tuesday. Chairwoman Gloria Molina did not vote because she is currently traveling, according to her spokeswoman.

In its proposal to the county, the L.A. Philharmonic wrote that the request to increase ticket prices is due to the need to ‘accommodate increased production, labor, marketing and artists’ costs.’ It said that there are no proposed changes for parking in the measure.

The Pool Circle -- an exclusive seating area close to the mainstage -- will see an increase of $3 per seat for Sunday World Music performances and special events. An increase of $2 per seat will go into effect for Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday pop performances. A $1 increase per seat will go into effect for Tuesday and Thursday performances. Other box-seating areas -- including the Garden Boxes, Terrace Boxes and Side Boxes -- will see increases of $1 to $3 per seat for certain performances. Tickets for Superseats will increase by either $1 or $3 per seat for certain performances. Bench seats and ramp seats will also see increases of $1 to $3 per seat for certain performances.

The L.A. Philharmonic said that it will maintain the tradition of offering $1 seats for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday performances in the top 380 bench seats of the Bowl. It also said that 40% of all Bowl tickets will be offered at $26 or less.

A spokeswoman for the L.A. Philharmonic said that the price increases are in line with increases in previous seasons.
