Don’t go hungry at the flea market: The inaugural L.A. Flea Market will take place July 18 at Dodger Stadium. And when surrounded by tens of thousands of square feet of yard sale items, it’s only natural to wonder: What is there to eat? Anticipating this, the market plans to host food trucks including India Jones, Slice Truck, Mandoline Grill, Willoughby Road, Reggae Chicken, Fresh Fries, Canter’s Deli, Border Grill, Komodo, Crepe’n Around and Dosa Truck. For dessert: Tropical Shave Ice, Del’s Lemonade, the Sweets Truck and Coolhaus. After the July 18 grand opening, the L.A. Flea Market will be held monthly (check the website for dates). General admission is $5 starting at 9 a.m. Early-bird tickets, with entrance at 7 a.m., are $10 to $15. VIP passes also available. For more information, go to www.thelafleamarket.com.
When in Huntington Beach: According to a news release about the opening of Surf Hero Deli at Waterfront Beach Resort, a Native American named Mankota sacrificed himself off the shores of Huntington Beach to ensure that there would always be good surfing conditions. This sounds dubious. But Surf Hero has indeed opened -- it’s a surf-themed, dog-friendly deli serving sandwiches salads, snacks, beverages and cocktails that celebrate the flavors of the world’s top surf locations. 21100 Pacific Coast Highway, Huntington Beach, (714) 845-8000, www.waterfrontresort.com.
