L.A. Times’ intrepid Web Scout David Sarno was tipped off to a site trying to get the vote out for one of our favorite military heroes. And, sorry, but it’s not John McCain.

Adamaforpresident.org is conducting a campaign for Admiral Adama to be the commander in chief. Yes -- ‘That’s Adm. William ‘Bill’ Adama, commander of the human star fleet, whose exploits have been faithfully chronicled in the excellent space documentary ‘Battlestar Galactica’ ’ -- as said by Sarno.

The site has done some great stalking and info gathering, getting feeds from the Times’ screening of last season’s finale to even getting shirts and bumper stickers to the supportive cast on the Vancouver set.

As for the presidential race ... most people believed that Hilary Clinton (38%) was a Cylon over Barack Obama (34.5%) (but John McCain was less than both at 27%), so that probably helped decide the Democratic nominee. In an Adama-McCain race, Adama saving the human race could outweigh McCain’s military contribution (though it certainly doesn’t lessen it). And an Obama-Adama campaign? Well, that would be for the people to decide.

We know who the adamaforpresident.org site supports, selling posters, t-shirts, etc. Whatever the gear, the message is clear: Adama ‘08!
