Once a year, the lucky members of the Eames Foundation are invited inside Charles and Ray Eames’ iconic Modernist masterpiece, Case Study House No. 8, for a docent-led tour and picnic lunch on the lawn overlooking the ocean. Membership to the foundation ranges from $100 to $5,000 but keep in mind that exterior tours are available Mondays through Saturdays for just $5. This year’s tour will be held on June 20 with reservations due by Monday, June 8. The following day, on June 21, the Eames Foundation will hold a fundraiser at the Petaluma home of the Eames’ daughter Lucia. The day-long event will feature Eames’ collection of her parents work -- the largest such private collection -- including original furnishings, photographs, rarely seen films and models. Coolest part of the day: kite-making in the barn. Tickets to the fundraiser range from $250 to $1,000 with proceeds benefiting the foundation’s outreach and capital-repair program. Bring shoes appropriate for flying kites. For reservations and membership information: (310) 459-9663.
