Learn about architecture, real-life cowboys, pioneer families, steam trains and which celebrity was a popcorn girl at the El Portal Theatre when the Museum of the San Fernando Valley hosts a historic walking tour of North Hollywood this Saturday.

Led by historian Richard Hilton, a docent with the Los Angeles Conservancy, the tour will make stops at the Security Trust and Savings Bank (1924), Amelia Earhart Library (1928), El Portal Theatre (1926) shown above in a 1999 photo, St. Paul’s First Lutheran Church, the Lankershim Arts Center (1939) (S. Charles Lee, architect), the Southern Pacific Railroad Depot (1896), the Commonwealth Savings & Loan Building, the North Hollywood Masonic Temple Lodge 542 and Lankershim Elementary School where Marilyn Monroe was a student.
