A suspect in a domestic violence case was shot by San Diego police after he fled into a movie theater in the Carmel Mountain Ranch neighborhood, officials said Saturday.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries. No police were hurt.

The incident began as a dispute between a man and woman at a Mexican restaurant nearby. The man chased the woman into the parking lot, then, as police arrived, he fled into the theater, witnesses said.
