One man was killed and another critically injured when they were hit by an MTA bus in West Hollywood, authorities said Tuesday.
Few details were immediately known about the incident, which occurred about 11:40 p.m. Monday on Santa Monica Boulevard near Palm Avenue, said Los Angeles County sheriff’s Sgt. Andrew Bedogne. The men were crossing the street when they were struck by the bus, Bedogne said, though it was unclear if they were in a marked crosswalk.
The men were taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where one later died of his injuries. Bedogne said Tuesday morning the second man remained in critical condition. Their names will be released after their families are notified.
Some lanes of Santa Monica Boulevard were closed for the initial investigation, but Bedogne said they were reopened by about 6 a.m. Deputies from the sheriff’s West Hollywood station are investigating the incident.
