Santos wins Mexican soccer league title

Santos tied Cruz Azul, 1-1, in Sunday’s second-leg final and won the Mexican league title, 3-2, on aggregate. Santos won the first leg, 2-1, on Thursday.

On Sunday, Argentine striker Emmanuel Luduena scored in the 16th minute, and though Cruz Azul tied it when midfielder Jaime Lozano converted a cross from Gerardo Torrado in the 82nd, Santos won its third title, adding to championships in 1996 and 2001.

‘We’ll celebrate with a lot of humility. We owe it to the group,’ said Luduena, who played despite an injury to his right knee.
