An Iowa man who tried to neuter a friend’s dog with a razor blade has been charged with improper care and treatment of animals, a newspaper reports.
According to the Des Moines Register, the procedure went awry, and the schnauzer’s owner took the animal to a veterinarian. The dog, named Pooper, was treated and released.
Police said the man told officers that he had learned the procedure from his father and grandfather. He performed the operation without pain medication.
‘His intentions may have been good, but how he went about it wasn’t,’ Sgt. Scott Raudabaugh told the Register. ‘We had no indication that he was trying to be malicious.’
