Sheepdog optional? Farmer Du Hebing thinks so.

When farmer Du Hebing’s herding dog died, he was at a loss -- he couldn’t afford another one. But he had an odd idea -- and one just crazy enough to work, apparently -- when he visited a local animal park. From the Austrian Times:

‘They had a flock of rare sheep and as a joke one of the keepers had put a picture of a wolf in the enclosure. But I noticed that the sheep never went near it,’ he explained.

So Hebing decided to invest in his very own wolf poster, which he now carries as he walks behind the flock.

He’s used to the strange looks he gets from neighbors in China’s Shaanxi province, Hebing told the Austrian newspaper:

‘People laugh and point but it works -- and the poster eats a lot less than any sheepdog,’ he said.

What’s this world coming to? Next thing you know, people will be pulling carriages without horses.

Oh, wait.
