The good folks at the Monterey Bay Aquarium were looking for a way to extend mealtime for little Dua, an Asian small-clawed otter, while also providing him with an interesting pastime to keep him occupied.

Fact: Asian small-clawed otters are known for their manual dexterity, which in the wild helps them to grab prey like mussels, crabs and snails.

An idea was born: Why not give Dua his own keyboard? The rest is history; can the animated film be far behind?
