Your morning adorable: Duckling and dog play -- each in their own way -- with a squeaky toy

We love, love, love animals who fly (no pun intended) in the face of tradition to befriend animals of other species. (Perhaps our childhood love of the Disney movie ‘The Fox and the Hound’ had something to do with that.)

We were elated, then, to see YouTube user dalsch‘s video of her Cayuga duckling, Miracle, and her Shih-tzu, Lacey, playing together with their plush, squeaky octopus. We love the way Miracle pokes that octopus with her bill as if trying to figure out how to make the squeaky noise come out!

We’re beginning to sense a trend here -- a friendship phenomenon between ducklings and dogs. We’ve previously seen -- and marveled at -- a big, gentle dog who allows his nose to be nibbled by a duckling and a puppy and a duckling who are the very best of friends.
