PREACH IT! Yes, Lindsay Lohan has a job and you don’t. Get over it.

So, yes, it’s officially official: Lindsay Lohan is going where Rose McGowan and Anna Faris have declined to tread. Lohan has signed on to play Linda Lovelace in a biopic about the star of the porn classic “Deep Throat.” The operative phrase here? Not “porn classic,” fun as that may be. Nope, it’s “signed on.” As in, signed on to work. At a job. That someone is paying Lindsay Lohan to do.

This is the same Lohan who was once labeled with the dreaded “I” word by manager-producer Bernie Brillstein: ‘I hope they put her in jail for as long as they can,” Brillstein said to the New York Times back in 2007. “Maybe she’ll realize how serious it is. I believe she’s uninsurable. And when you’re uninsurable in this town, you’re done.’

Done, eh? Apparently not. In fact, if you dig a little deeper into the history of hot-mess stars, you find ...

... that LiLo’s new job -- and we put that as loosely as we can -- isn’t all that shocking. By way of example, let’s start with the story of one erstwhile screw-up actor. Circa 2003-ish, this guy was deemed so uninsurable that even legendary director Woody Allen, who was dying to work with the guy, couldn’t get financiers to play along. The actor passed the physical and everything for the Allen movie, but the cost for insuring him was still prohibitively expensive. Allen had to drop the actor from his project, and he was peeved. (‘I found the whole thing outrageous,’ Allen ranted through his publicist.) Cut to 2010, and this same actor, one Robert Downey Jr., is not only back on top, but also the star of one of the new millennium’s hottest, freshest-feeling franchises.

Does that mean Lohan is on her way back to recapturing her ‘Mean Girls’ days? Maybe. Maybe not. But if she fails to completely crash and burn in the next few years, history shows we shouldn’t be all that shocked.
