It’s no secret that the Ministry has had a crush on Isaiah Mustafa, the Old Spice Guy, for quite a while now. For this almost-creepy obsession, we blame Mustafa’s the Man Your Man Could Smell Like character combined with the evil geniuses at ad agency Wieden+Kennedy -- who’ve now embarked on a hyper-personal viral video campaign turning its charms toward celebs including Alyssa Milano and Ellen DeGeneres.
Hyper-personal meaning the Old Spice Guy is on camera, on YouTube, speaking directly to these folks who’ve complimented him first.
The video above, addressed to G4TV founder Kevin Pereira (not quite a Hollywood celeb but very much a star when it comes to all things online), is the one that had us rolling the hardest when we saw it over at the Drill Down podcast site, and we’ve embedded the campaign’s response to a tweet from Milano after the break because, well, we are in fact a celebrity blog.
You can visit the Drill Down to see more hyper-personal video responses, all of them featuring Mustafa with his shirt off.
Not that that matters, of course.
Did we mention he’s got a talent deal now with NBC? OK, right, we did.
Yes, we know we’re being wrapped up as the chewy center of a viral-marketing bonbon, but when you’re encapsulated in such deliciousness, it’s hard to care so much about becoming part of an ad campaign.
