Ice-T was arrested Tuesday after being pulled over near New York’s Lincoln Tunnel for not wearing a seat belt -- and he was not happy about it.
He was taking his dog in for surgery when the car was pulled over. Ice-T said via Twitter that he was arrested for not wearing a seat belt; TMZ reported that the arrest was on suspicion of driving with a suspended license, but the New York Daily News cited police as saying the violation was for driving with expired auto insurance. The actor-rapper noted later that his license is from New Jersey and said it was valid.
At any rate, he blamed the arrest on a “rookie cop,” describing that person in a manner that, say, Mel Gibson might understand.
Daily News police sources said Ice-T began arguing with the officer upon being pulled over, and the rapper also described the exchange in a tweet: “He said ‘I know who you are and I don’t [care]!’ That was right after I called him a [name].”
Ice-T, who began his entertainment career in gangsta rap, joined the cast of “Law & Order: SVU” as an actor in 2000. And if you hear those Twitter messages in Ice-T’s voice, it’s sort of like being transported onto the set -- if the show aired on HBO instead of NBC.
