Redmond O’Neal, son of Ryan O’Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett, was pulled over for a traffic violation in Santa Monica on Tuesday and ended up arrested once again on suspicion of drug possession and a probation violation.

Redmond was pulled over around 8:15 a.m. for running a red light and arrested a short time later after a search of his car allegedly turned up heroin and marijuana, police told L.A. Now.

O’Neal has been on probation, in rehab or in jail on drug-related charges -- involving cocaine, heroin, marijuana and methamphetamine -- for the better part of the last decade. Though he was allowed out to visit his mom when she was dying of cancer, he learned of her death while incarcerated. (He did attend the funeral.) Most recently he did about a month behind bars for violating probation, after which he was released into residential rehab. In May he was moved to a sober-living facility.

O’Neal was being held without bail after being booked on charges including the red light infraction, violating felony drug probation and possession of a controlled substance, police said. He’s due in court Tuesday.

Coincidentally, Griffin O’Neal was hospitalized Tuesday after a head-on collision in the San Diego area. Griffin is Ryan’s son with actress Joanna Cook Moore, who’s also the mother of Tatum O’Neal.
