Think the U.S. economy is headed for a replay of the 1930s?

Or maybe the 1970s?

My column in the Times this weekend takes a look at some of the reasons why neither of those bad old decades is a good model for what probably is ahead.

Love it or hate it (and I know that for a lot of people, it’s the latter), this is a very different global economy than what prevailed in the ‘30s or the ‘70s.
