Honda dropped its factory F1 racing program late last year due to the current auto industry downturn. Now, the company says its competition dollars will shift from world-class to grassroots.

Honda Racing’s new initiative will support amateur and professional racers, many of whom are already racing Hondas. Now, through a Honda Racing Line club, racers will be able to buy factory racing parts with expedited delivery. Proof of membership in a sanctioning body and results from two events in which a Honda or Acura vehicle was entered are required.

Honda’s news release says the company is ‘helping our customers fulfill their racing dreams.’

I’m guessing Test and Tune night at Irwindale Speedway won’t count as a qualifying event.
