Here’s your do-the-fandango Friday roundup of consumer news from around the Web:

--All that glitters: Gold hit a record high as investors scrambled to find a safe place to park their money. The price for everyone’s favorite bling thing bumped right up against $1,250 an ounce before easing back a bit. Personally, I’ve always found the fascination with gold to be a little strange. On the other hand, I’d probably be feeling pretty clever if I’d put money into the metal a few years ago. Oh, and note to family: Father’s Day is just around the corner.

--Are you a Craigslist user? How’d you also like to be an Internet star? The listings heavyweight has launched a weekly Web series showing people using the service. The videos are available at Craigslist and on YouTube. They show people trying to connect with others for goods, services or simple get-togethers -- kind of a reality show about classified ads. Now why didn’t we think of that?
