Mark Silva covers national politics and government in the Washington bureau. He was the White House correspondent for the Chicago Tribune from 2004-2008, covering the reelection campaign and second term of President George W. Bush. He wrote a book about the 2008 presidential campaign of Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona. From 2001 to 2004 he was political editor for The Orlando Sentinel. He covered his first full presidential campaign in 2000 for the Miami Herald, where he was senior political writer until 2001.
