Even vacationing in Hawaii, President Obama doesn’t often sit still.

He heads to the Marine Corps gym every day for a predawn workout. On Sunday, his schedule also included a 6 a.m. briefing with security advisors and basketball with friends Eric Whitaker, Marty Nesbit and some White House aides.

At 9 a.m., he got another briefing, this time about another incident, on Sunday, on the Northwest flight arriving in Detroit from Amsterdam. A Nigerian passenger had locked himself in the bathroom, worrying passengers and crew about his intentions. The luckless man turned out to be ill, not a terrorist.

Then Obama and his family returned to the Marine Corps base to hang out at the beach, which was closed to the public for the day. No word on whether he decided to kick back and drink a mai-tai on the sand.
