Healthcare summit: Obama opens with familiar words

In his opening remarks this morning, President Obama reiterated the same points he’s been making for more than a year. Healthcare premiums will ‘almost certainly double’ for families over the coming years, money spent on healthcare is money that could be going to job creation, and Medicaid and Medicare are the ‘single biggest driver’ of the federal budget deficit.

Obama’s tone was casual -- he referred to members of the Republican leadership by first name while pointing out reasons why he believes each should support reform. ‘I’m telling you things you already know,’ Obama said.
