Reuters reports that wrestler Luo Meng became the second Chinese Olympic hopeful to be banned from the Beijing Games for a doping violation. As with top swimmer Ouyang Kunpeng, who tested positive last week for a banned steroid, Meng was banned for life from Olympic events. First time offenders usually get a two-year ban, but Chinese officials are opting for the stiffer penalty as part of their pledge to keep the Beijing Games free of performance-enhancing drugs.
