Beijing -- This is the 6 p.m. (Monday) view from PhilCam.

Blogger Philip Hersh has been posting occasional photos from the same vantage point to show what can be seen -- or not. He also wrote his first impressions about air quality after landing in China to report on the Beijing Games.

Here is the Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau website with the hard numbers. The Chaoyan District is home to the Olympic Green, where much of the Olympic action will occur. Rowing will be contested in the Renhe Town station in the Shunyi District.
