On a clear day you can see Mutianyu

BEIJING -- You can’t come to this city and not visit the Great Wall. The Mutianyu section of the Great Wall is 70 km (about 44 miles) northeast of Beijing. But it was tough to see past 200 yards, so the wall didn’t look so great today.

Despite the gloomy haze and eye-watering heat, locals and tourists were having fun.

The most fun, however, came in the form of a toboggan. For 40 yuan (plus one yuan for insurance), visitors mounted a small sled and shot down 1,580 meters (nearly a mile) of stainless steel tubing from the Great Wall to the village below.
