BEIJING -- Reuters reports that the Serbians have filed a protest over the finish of the 100-meter butterfly race Saturday. Michael Phelps was awarded the victory by one-hundredth of a second over Milo Cavic, a Southern California native who competes for Serbia because his parents are from there.

But our information from the pool is that the Serbians merely inquired to international swimming officials about the finish and that, after numerous reviews of the tape, the outcome was verified.
