Boudia 10th, Finchum 12th in platform diving

David Boudia of the United States finished 10th with 441.45 points in the men’s platform diving finals on Saturday night at the Beijing Games. Teammate Thomas Finchum was 12th at 412.65.

Australia’s Matthew Mitcham overtook China’s Zhou Luxin for the gold, blocking China’s bid to sweep the diving competition’s eight golds. Mitcham finished with 537.95 points. Zhou earned silver at 533.15 and Russia’s Gleb Galperin took the bronze with 525.80.

“I’m a little disappointed, but I’ve worked way too hard for too long to let it get me down,” Finchum told USA Diving. “I told myself not to let that first dive get to me, and I did enjoy [the competition] even though I didn’t dive my best.”
