In its first appearance at a World Figure Skating Championships, the top U.S. pair, Keauna McLaughlin from Tarzana and Rockne Brubaker of St. Louis, had to recover from one big mistake when McLaughlin fell on her triple salchow jump. The pair otherwise skated stylishly to its music, Malaguena. However, McLaughlin’s and Brubaker’s score of 53.62 was well below their career-high of 60.66. They are in second place with eight teams still to skate.
