Opinion: I wonder if Fox News will call Bristol Palin a “Baby Mama?”

Remember when Fox News referred to Michelle Obama as Barack’s ‘Baby Mama? It was one of the network’s slimiest and most racist attacks on the couple. I say one of, because categorizing their playful fist bump as the behavior of terrorists also sort of falls into this category (except really it just showed that no one at Fox knows anyone under age 30).

So I’ve been wondering how Fox is going to treat Bristol Palin. Now I’m not, of course, suggesting the network should resurrect that vicious, hurtful language when discussing the teenager’s pregnancy. Not at all. And based on what I’ve seen I probably shouldn’t worry. So far, Fox types have mostly talked about how proud they are of the Palins. Proud and supportive.

Given the network’s ugly disdain for the marriage and motherhood of a woman who has been wed for 16 years and had two daughters with her husband, all I can say is that it’s darn lucky for Bristol Palin that she’s white.
