Is Jerry Brown taking a gamble with his proposed budget plan for California, as LA Observed blogged Monday? Or is he banking on voters to support tax increases over spending cuts?

Reader winston120 doesn’t think Brown took a gamble at all. On our discussion board regarding California’s budget, he wrote:

When you add public employees plus people who have no tax liability, that is about 50% of the voting public. Brown knows this and he will martial this army that directly benefits from higher taxes.

What do you think: Is Brown assuming that the majority of folks who voted for him in November will support him on this one?
