Karen Bass walks out of speaker’s office with a new pair of Manolo Blahniks

Assembly Speaker-emeritus Karen Bass of Los Angeles has a pair of $741 designer shoes, but she had to go through some pain to get them.

Bass was posing for a photo shoot for Los Angeles magazine and was wearing a brown outfit with black shoes, which her press secretary, Shannon Murphy, said is a fashion no-no.

Murphy borrowed a pair of brown Manolo Blahnik shoes that are two sizes too small from another staffer and had Bass wear them for the photo shoot, despite the assemblywoman’s complaints that they hurt.

Later, as a humorous gift, Bass’ staff chipped in and bought her a pair of $741 Manolo Blahnik shoes in Bass’ size. As they say, no pain no gain.
