Our Ministry of Gossip site hipped us to this news: U2’s Bono hurt his back during rehearsals for the band’s upcoming tour, according to a statement on the band’s website. Writes M.o.G.’s Matt Donnelly:

Bono, real name Paul Hewson, will spend the next few days in the hospital before returning home for further recovery. U2 manager Paul McGuinness said he’s not sure how the injury will affect upcoming tour dates, but that “we hope to get things resolved as soon as possible.”

A June 3 engagement in Salt Lake City has already been postponed, which would seem to put the two dates at Angel Stadium, which begin three days later, in jeopardy, although Ticketmaster’s website still has the shows listed.
