Kenny Chesney is in the mood to raise a glass today — whether it’s Hemingway’s whiskey or beer in Mexico, only he knows — after learning this morning that he’s up for nine Academy of Country Music awards, more than any other artist.

“It’s an honor to receive so much love from the Academy of Country Music after all they’ve done to support my music over the years,’ Chesney said in a statement shortly after the ACM unveiled this year’s nominations, which also have six for Jason Aldean, five for Lady Antebellum and four for Brad Paisley.

His nominationas include entertainer of the year, the ACM’s top award, as well as album, single, song and male vocalist. Awards will be announced April 1 in Las Vegas.

‘I can’t wait to get back on the road with my good friend Tim [McGraw] and throw one big spring break party all summer long,’ Chesney said, alluding to the stadium tour he’ll be undertaking this summer with McGraw, for whom Chesney was once an opening act.

Their Brothers of the Sun tour gets under way June 2 in Tampa and will keep them on the road for most of the summer, including a July 14 stop at Anaheim Stadium.
