The meeting ended shortly after 10 p.m., but not before chief negotiator David Young gave the stragglers who remained a taste of what’s to come:

‘[Picketing] will be more demanding than in the past,’ Young said. ‘But it will be fairly limited, not eight-hour days. But it will be monitored.’

‘We will picket in New York and anywhere else we can have an impact. We won’t just be standing in front of a studio where nobody is paying attention. Location shoots will be a critical element of that strategy.... We are preparing to do whatever is necessary to have the most impact. We’ll make sure our picketing here is effective and then we’ll take our show on the road.’
