Elizabeth Stephen, president of television at Mandalay Entertainment Group, an independent production company, said she’s been busy banking a dozen pilot scripts so that whenever the strike is over, the writers can ‘hit their keypads right away, knowing the networks and studios have signed off.’

‘When they go on strike, at least they will have been able to get paid for those first two scripts,’ she added.

Shows that have begun but not found their audience are facing the biggest risk of losing momentum, she said. ‘It’s harder to sustain that interest.’
