Matt Corman, a WGA member picketing at Fox who wrote the Christmas movie ‘Deck the Halls,’ admitted some apprehension about the long-term effect a strike would have on his financial well-being. But like many people on the picket line, he said his optimism and enthusiasm for a cause he felt was right outweighed the possible negative consequences.

“My wife is also a member of the WGA, so our sole source of income comes from one place,’ Corman said. ‘We’re both nervous. But neither of us wants to cave in. We’re in the worst-case scenario right now -- we’re not getting a fair deal.’

Corman, like several other people on the picket line who spoke to a reporter, seemed unwilling to focus on the potential professional and personal downsides of being involved in a strike.

‘It’s the first day,’ Corman said. ‘People are optimistic and don’t really want to think about it in any other terms.’
