‘Big Love,’ which returns to the lineup on Jan. 18, will seem more plot-driven than in the past because HBO cut its season from 12 to 10 episodes after the writers strike, star Jeanne Tripplehorn said in an interview before she joined the rest of the cast for a news conference.

When ‘In Treatment’ returns to HBO’s lineup in April, it won’t have its five-night-a-week scheduling anymore. HBO will now air two episodes on Sunday nights and three on Monday nights in an attempt to gain more viewers.

The network decided to make the change because viewers watched the critically acclaimed show— it earned more Golden Globe nominations than any other TV series last year — a few episodes at a time instead of one every night, HBO President Sue Naegle said.

In the new season, Paul Weston’s (Gabriel Byrne) marriage has collapsed, he’s moved to Brooklyn and he will treat four new patients as well as continue in therapy with Gina (Dianne Wiest).
