It’s Friday, Friday! And online sensation Rebecca Black made use of the glorious day to tell “Good Morning America” that she had “Bieber fever” and that it would “make my life” to record a duet with the teen heartthrob. Fun! Fun! Fun! (A word of advice, Biebs: It might be time to reconsider your ban on saying “never.”)
The eighth-grader has become a viral star since her video for “Friday” was posted -- appropriately -- last Friday on Comedy Central’s ‘Tosh .0” blog under the headline “Songwriting Isn’t For Everyone.” And an Internet queen/punchline was born as the song, produced by Ark Music Factory, made its rounds on Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, blogs, etc. So far it has garnered nearly 17 million views on YouTube.
And not because it was good, but because it was so awesomely bad.
“It doesn’t bother me,” Black said in the interview, and later shared some of the meanest comments she’s received.
So does she think she’s a good singer?
“I think I have talent on some level,” she said. “I don’t think I’m the worst singer … but I don’t think I’m the best singer.”
Talent notwithstanding, Black is certainly making her mark. As of midday Friday, “Friday,’ was No. 31 on the Top 100 songs chart on iTunes, while Justin Bieber was at No. 33 with “Never Say Never.”
And it seems this is only the beginning of her singing efforts.
‘We’re currently writing another song,’ she tweeted Friday. ‘It does not have to do with weekdays, or months, or numbers or colors. Throwin’ that out there.’
ShowTrackers, what do you think of Rebecca Black?
