John McCain’s proposal, complete or incomplete

John McCain wants to postpone his debate with Democratic counterpart Barack Obama, currently scheduled for Friday night, so that he can return to Washington and concentrate on the financial crisis, which is fodder for the political blogs.

I was interested in the comment by Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), who said of the proposal, ‘It’s the longest Hail Mary in the history of either football or Marys.’’

Whether you agree or not, it’s funny. It’s also not surprising coming from someone from the state where Doug Flutie went to school.

It also raises another point: Could we have political discussion in this country without sports metaphors?

The language of business is English, the language of love is French, the language of politics is sports.
