The word just went out in the Santa Anita press box at 12:40 p.m.: Curlin is set to arrive in one hour at Santa Anita. Here’s an update. Curlin will arrive around 5:30 p.m., according to track spokesman Mike Willman.

On Saturday, Curlin won the Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont Park to set a North America thoroughbred earnings record with $10,246,800. Cigar’s record had stood for 12 years.

If Curlin likes the new Pro-Ride track while training, he’ll be entered in the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Santa Anita on Oct. 25.
