No jokes about special effects, please, but Variety’s Liz Smith reports that Miramax is mulling a film about the life of former Dodgers Manager Tommy Lasorda -- and that Al Pacino has ‘expressed interest’ in the playing the role.

It gets better. Smith says the biopic ‘is reported on the ‘fast track for development’ ’ and that actress Michelle Pfeiffer is a ‘possibility’ to play the wife of the irrepressible Lasorda, now 81, who managed the Dodgers from 1977 to 1996.

But as Smith cautions, ‘there’s many a slip twixt the ‘fast track’ and the first day of shooting.’ Translation: None of this might come true.

‘Still and all,’ Smith concludes, ‘for the life of me I can’t imagine Al Pacino on a baseball field. But, that’s why they call it acting!’
