Santa Anita announced Friday that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger would be one of the trophy presenters for the Breeders’ Cup Classic race Oct. 25.

‘We are extremely pleased that Gov. Schwarzenegger has chosen to attend and present the trophy for the biggest race in North America,’ said Sherwood Chillingworth, Oak Tree Director and executive vice president.

‘I think the governor recognizes the importance of the thoroughbred industry here in California, and his presence on Oct. 25 does, indeed, lend a great deal of prestige to the event.’

Left unsaid was that his presence also gives horsemen some access to ask the governator about his hesitancy in the recent past to help out racing with the inclusion of some slot machines at the tracks.
