The Ducks’ acquisition of Bret Hedican on Thursday bolsters which of the following:

a) The Ducks’ backline depth.
b) The Ducks’ collection of Stanley Cup rings.
c) Southern California’s congregation of celebrity sports spouses.

All of the above qualifies as a correct answer. Hedican is a 38-year old defenseman who has played 988 career games with five teams, winning the Stanley Cup with Carolina in 2006. He also is married to figure skating and ballroom dancing star Kristi Yamaguchi.

That brings the Southland’s total of celebrities married to local professional athletes to three -– Hedican-Yamaguchi joining Nomar Garciaparra-Mia Hamm and David Beckham-Victoria Beckham.
